1. Summary

Gooing Up is an Action mobile game. The player controls a little pile of slime and by tapping it will jump upwards. On its way up, it will meet countless of enemies. Some of them can be defeated by attacking (double-tapping).

2. Story

A dried up water well, far far away, is full of life. One day something special happens. The slime at the bottom of the well that was lying there for many years, started to move on its own. It came to life. It could not speak, but after many more years it was so bored of being the only one of his kind and not having friends, it decided to escape from the well and explore the world. However, all the other creatures will do anything to prevent that from happening.

3. Gameplay

Gooing up is a game where the player is supposed to gather as much points as possible. He does so by jumping upwards and avoiding and killing enemies. However, every enemy requires a different tactic to kill. The player can boost his score by getting a multiplier for jumping with little pauses between jumps.

At the end the player can submit his reached height, score and highest multiplier in that session to an online leaderboard. The game also includes achievements that the player will unlock along the way.

4. Background Information

Flappy Bird leaded to the start of Gooing Up. I heard friends and family talk about the game all the time. I did not have time to play it myself but after hearing more and more about it, I spontaneously decided to try and create a mobile game.

On my way to the university I thought of a simple game that could be played on a mobile device. After working on it during lectures, the game was finished by the time I got home. It consisted of mostly rectangles, each of them either represented the character, the floor, a wall or a water droplet. The water droplets could kill you.

As a test I let a few friends play the game and they really liked the concept. That is when I decided to continue developing the game further. I contacted Heiny Reimes and after some discussion, the game design was now done. We could start creating the game!
